Warren Wiese Obituary

Rock Hill, S.C. Our hearts were saddened on Monday, March 1, 2021 with the passing of our beloved father, Warren Melvin Wiese, 91. He joined his wife Betty who passed away in 2020 after 72 years of marriage. Originally from a family farm outside of Rochester, Minnesota, Mr. Wiese was the son of the late Paul Wiese and Elizabeth Hintgen Wiese. Warren faithfully belonged to and attended church with Betty wherever he lived every Sunday, most recently at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill. He always participated on various church committees and bible study groups. Warren graduated from the University of Minnesota with his Masters degree in mechanical engineering and began his 40-year career with General Motors Technical Center in 1951. He soon also volunteered and served as 2nd lieutenant  in the US Air Force during the Korean War, then returned to General Motors when he was released in 1953. General Motors brought him from the Proving Ground in Detroit, MI to Frigidaire/Delco Air in Dayton, OH where he became Chief Engineer and then Director of Engineering, managing the design of the Compressor and controls for automobile air-conditioning systems and room air-conditioners. Warren joined the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1951 serving on various committees and as President of the Dayton SAE for several years. He was a member of the National SAE Board of Directors and served on several committees during his tenure. Warren retired as Chief Engineer at the Harrison Radiator division in Lockport, NY in 1991; then, he and Betty moved in 1997 to Seneca, SC on Lake Keowee where they lived until moving to Rock Hill in 2012. Warren and Betty enjoyed lake living, golf, bridge, tennis, music and theater, and traveling around the world with many friends and family. Warren is survived by three daughters, Julianne Wiese, Marcia Holmstrom (husband Raymond), and Pamela Bronander (husband Frank); a son, Randall Wiese; sister-in-law, Marion Engel; three grandchildren, Benjamin Wagner, Luke Bronander (wife Kelsey) and Paige Bronander; three nieces, Beth Cole, Ann Thurston and Susan Larson and nephew, John Engel and their families. A private family memorial service and celebration of life will be held in March. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paige Bronander and her mission fund at gemission.org or Park Pointe Village Samaritan Fund. Bass- Cauthen Funeral Home is serving the family.
