Walter “Fred” Cady, Jr. passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 in Rock Hill, SC.

Born in Corinth, NY to parents Walter F. Cady, Sr. and Mary (Allen) Cady, Fred was a lifelong resident of New York State. He attended Corinth High School, SUNY Plattsburgh, and SUNY Albany. He was very proud of earning his Master’s degree in Social Work, and went on to positively impact many people during his career.

Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He once drove his motorcycle across the country. Later, he earned the nickname “Fearless Fred” while he was a long-term member of the Adirondack Mountain Club and an ADK 46er. He climbed the 46 Adirondack High Peaks five times! Being in nature was one of his greatest joys.

Fred was known for his bright smile, quirky sense of humor, kind heart, and gentle spirit. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Snyder) Cady, his daughter Melissa Cady, his sister Joanne Dingman, and many other loving family members who will all miss him greatly.

Due to current pandemic conditions, Fred’s celebration of life will be postponed until further notice.
