Richard Leroy Herron

Richard Leroy Herron, 93 of Rock Hill, SC died on January 1, 2021. 

Dick was preceded in death by his mother and father, Newton and Lois Herron, one brother Albert (Pat) Herron and his wife Paula.

Dick is survived by his brother Clyde and his children Amy Dill, Rebecca McGuirt and Richard Jr. He also has nine surviving grand-children and two great grand- children.

Upon graduation from The University of South Carolina in 1946, Dick began work as a chemist and pursued that career until his retirement from BASF in 1982.

Dick was an active member of First ARP Presbyterian Church. He was previously instrumental in the formation of Rogers Memorial ARP and Eden Terrance ARP Churches. He loved photography and classical music. Another passion was hiking, camping and gardening. After retirement, Dick and Polly traveled internationally and domestically. They especially enjoyed long road trips in their camper to mountain areas of the western United States. Dick gave of himself as a public school volunteer helping children with reading and math. He also provided transportation to cancer patients needing help getting to their treatments.

A private graveside service will be held in his honor.
