Henry Alexander Bolton, “Alec”, 81 of Edgemoor, SC passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

He was the son of the late Rufus Grady Bolton and Pauline Miller Bolton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lena Mae Bolton and one grandson Dave Walker.

Alec was born and raised in the Chester/Rodman area. He graduated Lewisville High School in 1957,

Where he met the love of his life. After a year attending the Citadel in Charleston, he came home and married Lena Mae Nichols on July 4, 1959.

In 1961, he enlisted just ahead of his draft notice and served in the U.S. Army from December 1961 until November 1963. During that time, he was stationed in Okinawa and was recognized as both a sharpshooter and a paratrooper.

After returning home, Alec went back to work for Bowater Paper Mill. He devoted 40 plus years of service to Bowater retiring as a Production Foreman on the pulp dryer in 2004. He worked hard and was well respected by all those who worked with him.

He and Lena raised three boys who he taught the value of hard work and helping others. Alec, or Paw Paw as many knew him, was devoted to his family and provided a guiding influence on all his grandchildren and their friends. He treated everyone like family, loving them enough to set them straight if necessary.

After the tragic loss of his wife, Alec was blessed to find the second love of his life, Joyce. Together they spent twelve years enjoying their time together and their families. He spent many hours working around his pond getting everything just right. He loved to take Miss Joyce fishing and she loved taking care of her Honey.

He is remembered for his kindness and love for others. Alec was a good ole southern gentleman, always smiling, sharing stories or words of wisdom. He will be missed terribly by his family and the community.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Ernandez Walker Bolton of Edgemoor; five sons, Lex Bolton, and his wife Christy of Edgemoor, Pat Bolton and his wife Dana of Chester, Jeff Bolton and his wife Paula of Chester, Rick Walker and his wife Peggy of Rock Hill and Dean Walker of Rock Hill, one brother Grady Bolton and his wife Joyce of Chester. Thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The family of Alec will have a private graveside service at Harmony Baptist Church in Edgemoor Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00pm
