Gordon Shull Obituary

Mr. Gordon B. Shull passed away on August 4, 2020 at the age of 86.

 

Gordon was born on January 3, 1934 in Shelby, NC to the late C. Cone Shull and Louise H. Shull. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Jane M. Shull. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Patsy S. Blanton and Mickey S. Izzi.

 

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and served in Korea with the 1092nd combat engineers 8th army.

 

He graduated from Shelby High School class of 1952. He was a member of Mount Holly United Methodist Church in Rock Hill. He was a member of the American Legion Post #34 and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2889 of Rock Hill, SC. He was also a charter member of the Pinetuck Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf with the "Charlies Chargers" Senior Group.

 

He retired from Georgia Pacific after 37 years as superintendent of the coating and shipping departments at Catawba, SC.

 

Gordon is survived by Nephews James A. Bridges, Jr, his wife Laura and their children, Kendra, Riley and Bryson of Forest City, NC; Gary Dale Bridges, his son Devon of Mooresboro, NC and Gary's daughter Lauren of Los Angeles, CA; Kevin Blake Bridges, his wife Mary and their children, Michaela and Sully of Raleigh, NC and many precious friends.

 

A graveside service will be held at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Blvd in Rock Hill SC at 11 am on Saturday, August 8, 2020 with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #34 Honor Guard.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Holly United Methodist Church 1996 Mount Holly Rd, Rock Hill SC 29730 or the charity of your choice.
