Glenda Trower Obituary

Glenda Ann Trower, nee Miller, 70, died unexpectedly in her home in Fort Mill, SC, on September 26, 2022.

Glenda was born in Payette, Idaho, on January 5, 1952, and spent most of her childhood on a horse - either in the rodeo ring or out on the trails. She graduated from Colorado Women’s College, where she studied ecology and spent time hiking and camping in the glorious Colorado mountains. After college, she got married, had two kids, and moved from Colorado to San Francisco, then upstate New York, then Charlotte, NC; she then spent most of her retirement in Wytheville, VA before moving to Fort Mill to be closer to family.

She was “class mother” for most of her children’s elementary school years, then went on to run her own moving company until she was able to retire to the mountains of southwest Virginia where she could see her horses from her living room window - a lifetime dream.

During her long, full life, Glenda succeeded at anything she put her mind to. She was a force to be reckoned with, even in her later years when she insisted on living in her own home and calling her own shots as long as possible. She was the best stay-at-home-mom a kid could have, the best “Boss Lady” a worker could ask for, baked the best pies at the potluck, won all the prizes in her Scrabble group every year, had a brilliant sense of humor, and could ride any horse that could be caught.

Glenda did so many things during her rich, full life, it would be impossible to list them all. She was a reader, a writer, a horseback rider, a hiker, a camper, a boater, a skier, a wife, a mom, a cat mom, a dog mom, a baker, a giver, a cancer survivor, a business owner, and a friend. She was tough as nails but also incredibly generous - often giving to those in need without anyone even knowing.

She is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings: two sisters and three brothers; by her loving husband, Stephen Trower; and by numerous beloved pets. She is survived by her children, Leticia Trower and Todd Trower; and by her two grandsons, Felipe Pinzon-Trower and Nicholas Trower. Her two cats, Mitzi and Melinda, will sorely miss her too.
