Gene Reed Esarove Sr.

Tega Cay, SC – Mr. Gene Reed Esarove Sr, 82, passed away January 23, 2023.

The memorial service will be held at 10AM, February 18, 2023, at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC. Father John Giuliani, C.O. officiating. Inurnment to follow.

Born in Westmont, Illinois, Gene was the son of the late Herman and Eleanor Elizabeth Rosenberger Esarove. Brother to Wayne, Lee (deceased), Dawn, Gale and Sherylynn. Survived by his wife Gayle, sons Reed (Tammy) and Wes (Jody), grandchildren Alissa, Emily, Sarah, Benjamin and great granddaughters Aubrie and Maddie.

Gene retired from USCO Distribution, Charlotte, NC after a lifetime career in warehousing. Gene spent his life volunteering with numerous community organizations to include the Frankfort Park District, coaching boys’ baseball, a charter member for the Frankfort, IL Kiwanis Club, acting in and directing several fundraising productions, sports announcer for the Providence Catholic High School, New Lennox football and basketball teams, board member for SC Ducks Unlimited and instructor/director for SC AARP Driver Safety Program. Gene served on the finance committee for Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church as well ushered Masses. Most recently Gene was very active in the Tega Cay Community as the treasurer for the Friday Men’s Breakfast Club, two-time president of the Tega Cay Vintage Club but the Tega Cay Lions Club held a special place in Gene’s heart. He participated in the Fall Festival, Shrimp Boil, Easter Egg Hunt, Fourth of July Parade and Fish Fry. His favorite activity was serving the community and senior citizens as Santa Clause.

Although Gene was dedicated to his community, his true love, devotion, and care were for his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who will forever miss him dearly.

Gene’s family would like to thank his friends, caregivers and medical personnel who lovingly cared for him during his most recent illness.
