Evelyn Hovis Haire

Evelyn Hovis Haire of Indian Land, SC, passed away June 1, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born December 16, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to Olin Robinson Hovis and Eva May Rymer Hovis. She was predeceased by her siblings Olin Hovis, Ruby Hovis Flowe, and John Hovis, as well as her second husband, George Haire.
Evelyn grew up in the Steele Creek community where generations of the family attended Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.  She attended historical Berryhill School.  
She is remembered as a loving mother, wife, aunt and grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening and quilting, producing many beautiful heirlooms.  She was employed for over 45 years with Medical Specialties and Parker International, producing products for the medical supply industry.
Evelyn is survived by her children Max Flowe (Connie), Yvonne Flowe Bradey (John), James Flowe (Patricia), Donna Flowe Gills (Sherman), stepdaughter Rose Haire (Michael), as well as 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She will be lovingly remembered as “Granny” by all her family.
The family is grateful for the years of excellent care provided to our mother by Dr. Gregory Kimmerle, Atrium Health, and the wonderful staff of Lancaster Health and Rehab as her health declined in recent weeks.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 6 at Steele Creek Memorial Cemetery, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte NC.
