Annelie Suzanne (Russell) Rizos

Ann Russell Rizos died at home Sunday, December 4, 2022 following a brief illness.  She was born August 10, 1948 in Furth, Germany to Katharine and Winfred Russell.  Ann lived the life of an Army brat until her parents settled in Randalman, N.C where Ann completed High School .  
In 1972, Ann met Nick Rizos, the love of her life.  They married in 1973 and were married for 49 years living primarily in the Charlotte / Tega Cay / Fort Mill area.
Ann had many interests and excelled at tennis,  gardening,  cooking and any board or card game that required two or more players. After retiring from GMAC in 2005, she and Nick began playing croquet 4 or 5 days a week with friends, or just the two of them.  Decorating their new home and designing and working in their yard filled her days and provided endless pleasure.  Ann enjoyed spending time with friends.  She and Nick spent many evenings and weekends going out to dinner and playing card games and dominos with their friends.
She loved to travel and she and Nick found cruise ships were a great way to see the world.  They enjoyed adventures in many ports in the Carribean, the Mediterrean, Bermuda, Alaska and Hawaii.  She also loved their bi-annual trips to Greece where they visited with Nick's retired parents.
Ann is survived by her husband, Nick Rizos, a sister Barbara Clowdis (Blair) of Randalman, NC, and a nephew, Bradley Sheppard, also of Randalman.  She was predeceased by her parents, and a younger sister, Brenda Colflesh of Winston Salem.

A  funeral service is scheduled for Friday, December 9, at 2 pm at Palmetto Funeral  Home in Fort Mill.  Visitation will precede the funeral beginning at 1:30 PM.  Burial will follow at Philadelphia Methodist Church, in Fort Mill.
